Why The EBT Screening Test Is The Best Screening Test For Women

One in 31 women die of Breast Cancer, while one in 3 women die of Heart Disease.


This is a national tragedy, and one that is preventable in a high percentage of cases. For women in their 30s, 40s and 50s, it can seem as though a heart attack "comes from nowhere", but this is rarely the case. These are the ages when the basis for future cardiovascular events start to become detectable. The challenge becomes finding the disease early in its development, so we can achieve the goal of more favorable outcomes for women. Identifying Coronary Artery Disease, also known as Calcified Plaque or Coronary Calcium, often goes undiagnosed in women by as much as 88%. As a result, many women are at risk for adverse outcomes and are not provided the preventive, diagnostic or treatment strategies that may have otherwise prevented adverse outcomes.


Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) Coronary Calcium Scoring has had 27 years of testing and data collection, with over 8,000 clinical peer reviewed studies, multiple Histopathologic Correlative Studies, and the only science recommended by the American Heart Association for screening asymptomatic women. It has a 99% accuracy in diagnosing Coronary Calcium. This compares with only a 58% accuracy with Multislice CT or conventional Cat Scan found at your hospital.


Apart from the most accurate screening available, physicians prefer EBT for women because breast tissue is never directly exposed to radiation. Conventional Multislice CT which circumnavigates the body at 360 degrees, exposes breast tissue directly to 100% of the emitting dose of 3.50/5.50 mSv. Conversely, EBT screens across the back at 210 degrees where the anterior dose is only 17% of .50 mSv. In other words, indirect breast tissue exposure is only 0.085 mSv. with EBT vs 3.50/5.50 mSv. of direct exposure with Multislice CT. A difference of more than 410% with conventional Cat Scan. This is an important consideration for women when deciding on the proper screening technique.
